Weed whackin'

With some help from Halle and Marilee-the kids knocked a lot of tree-like weeds down today with their baseball bats. Our usually bare dirt yard is totally filled with green weeds, which at this point I am somewhat greatful for. I'm tired of seeing brown :) I'm also sad to say that I turned the AC on for a while today for the first time, anybody else? Our house was so hot and we were outside most of the day... Summer is not welcome.

Can we come aboard?

This is Anna and David's favorite place to go in the afternoons during Kate's nap. They eat their snack and they also take their things up there to color. They have so much fun just laughing and playing, they're really in their own world. Since we live kind of close to the base, whenever a plane flies over, they yell up there, "Can we come aboard?!?!"

The dinner we reached for this week...

Easy Chicken Marinade-1 cup oil, 2 cups 7up, 1 cup soy sauce, 1/4 tsp. garlic powder, 1/2 tsp. dry horseradish (opt.) Marinate for at least 3 hours and grill.

Twice baked potatoes-Bake 4 potatoes, then split in half and spoon out middles. Add 7-8 TBSP milk, 2-4 TBSP butter, 1 cup cheddar cheese, some S&P, and mix well with electric mixer. Put mix back in skins and bake 375 for 20 min. Each of us give a star - so this is a 5 STAR meal around here.

Just you and me

Before he could start babbling "Da-da", David has always lit up when Jay comes around. He is the first one to see his truck pull into the shop in the back and the first to run and wait at the back door for a huge hug. He absolutely loves riding in the truck with his dad to go to the "tool store" and wrestling and playing are a nightly ritual now. I am so glad David has the example of such a great dad!!

Smilin' no matter what!

I found this cute picture of Kate at 9 months or so when her poor little wrist was fractured. Anna was carrying her and set her down too fast. This happened in a couple weeks of craziness, with colds, ear infections, flu, pink eye, and and an urgent care visit for the little seashell we found suctioned at the roof of Kate's mouth! Luckily Jay ended up popping it out and there was no damage. Those are the times that you just have to try and survive and keep smilin' no matter what.
